Summary
Designing a virtual office for the Government of Sharjah - Department of eGovernment. These include a private office customizable for employees, managers, and executives, an outside working space, and a creative working space.
Background
The department currently only has a physical office, but with recent work-from-home trends, they want to build out a functional office in VR.
Project Goals
1. The virtual office should help inspire productivity and creativity from the employee’s home setting and make virtual meetings more stimulating
2. It should feel somewhat similar to their differently themed room designs in their physical office
3. My goal was to design the private office according to the clients needs
Research Approach
1. I started by going through a reference deck of images of what they wanted the offices to look like
2. I then started pulling more references off of google, pinterest, magazines etc.
3. I studied what current VR private offices looked like and discussed with the client in more detail to understand their opinions
Ideation
1. I created a rough top-down views of the layout of each room
2. I then proceeded to create mockup designs of what the interiors would look like
Current Stage
With the help of concept artists on my team, we built out the concept artwork of each room.
Next Steps
Once we approve these with our client, we will proceed with building out 3d models of these rooms using Blender and Maya.
